CONCORD, Mass. – A project for concrete repairs for the Avery Brook Bridge and Old Route 132 Bridge at the Union Village Dam in East Thetford, Vermont, will be completed under the terms of a $182,124.94 contract recently awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.

Work will be accomplished by Kingsbury Companies, LLC of Waitsfield, Vermont. The contract was awarded on Sept. 1, 2016. Once a notice to proceed is issued the work will be authorized to start. The project is anticipated to take approximately one month to complete and be accomplished in 2016.

Work to be performed under this contract are at two separate locations, but both work sites are part of the Union Village Dam, located in East Thetford, Vermont. The scope of the project is as follows:

Work at the Avery Brook box culvert includes: 1) shotcrete repairs to the ceiling of the concrete box culvert; 2) spall repair to the walls of the box culvert; 3) placement of flowable fill to fill voids behind the walls of the box culvert; 4) construction of a curb at the base of the walls; and 5) diversion of the flows of Avery Brook.

Work at the Old Route 132 Bridge location includes: 1) concrete repairs at the north and south abutments and north abutment back wall; and 2) installation of new steel handrails on both sides of the bridge deck.

The project will be managed by the Corps of Engineers and all work will be accomplished under the supervision of a Corps of Engineers Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
