This section explains how the Corps of Engineers may help resolve water resource problems and provide technical assistance. It includes an overview of the Corps Programs with special emphasis on Small Cost Shared Projects, which include: Continuing Authorities Program, Flood Plain Management Services, Planning Assistance to States, and Ecosystem Restoration.

These pages include information on Project Criteria and Project Process and explains what these programs can do and their limits. It also includes instruction on how to request assistance.

As you read through the material you will notice the name of a program and following the name, you'll see, as an example, Section 1135. The Section is in reference to congressional legislation, or act congress passed and the President signed. Congress provides the Corps the Authority (permission) and appropriations (funding) for Corps projects.
