Corps awards $201,759 contract for electrical repair at Knightville, Littleville Lake dams in Huntington

CONCORD, Mass. Electrical repairs to the Knightville and Littleville Lake dams in Huntington, Mass., will be completed under the terms of a $201,759.00 contract recently awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District. Work will be accomplished by Jay Harris of Newburyport, Mass. The contract was awarded on Sept. 17, 2015.

 

Work at Knightville Dam involves replacing the existing electrical distribution system at the Gate Tower; providing a new main distribution panel; pulling out old feeder conductors from the concrete duct bank that  runs underground under the dam crest road, and installing new feeder conductors in the existing duct bank; providing new branch circuit wiring from the new distribution panel to the existing equipment; providing new lighting within the Gate Tower; and replacing a junction box located underneath the service bridge.

 

Work at Littleville Dam involves replacing the existing electrical distribution system at the Gate Tower; providing a new distribution panel; providing new branch circuit wiring from the new distribution panel to the existing equipment; providing new lighting within the Gate Tower; and providing new lighting within the water supply tower.  

 

The project will be managed by the Corps under the supervision of a Corps’ Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements. More than 41,000 visitors a year enjoy the variety of recreational pursuits available at Knightville, including picnicking, hiking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding and cross country skiing and snowmobiling in season. Littleville Dam offers picnicking, fishing, hunting, canoeing, boating, nature study and cross country skiing and snowmobiling (on marked trails) in season, and attracts more than 39,000 visitors annually.
