CONCORD, Mass. – The Fox Point Hurricane Barrier pump station roof in Providence, Rhode Island, will be repaired under the terms of a $433,970.00 contract issued recently by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
Work will be accomplished by Construction and Service Solutions Corp., of Buffalo, N.Y. The project notice to proceed was given on July 9, 2013 and the project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 11, 2013. The contract was awarded on June 14, 2013.
The work on this project involves demolishing, removing and properly disposing of the existing built-up roof, and the installation of a new membrane roof on the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier pump station building.
This building is approximately 10,000 square feet in size, and also contains three expansion joints, five large roof fans, associated louvers under the fans, and large hoods covering the fans. There also are approximately six small vent stacks, as well as an entry hatch, and associated welded hand rails that also will need to be replaced.
The project will be managed by the Corps and all work will be accomplished under the supervision of a Corps’ Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
