Seaport Marine – Noank Shipyard, Inc. seeks Corps permit to repair, extend floats, do other work in Mystic

CONCORD, Mass. – Seaport Marine – Noank Shipyard, Inc. is seeking a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District to conduct work in waters of the United States in conjunction with repairing and extending floats and doing other work in Mystic, Conn.

 

Seaport Marine – Noank Shipyard, Inc. is proposing to repair seven finger floats and extend them 20 feet seaward; replace existing tie-off piles and fender piles as necessary and relocate existing tie-off piles as necessary to accommodate the extended finger piers. The existing 6-foot-wide by 320-foot-long main float will be replaced with an 8-foot wide by 320-foot long main float. A new platform with a ramp and float is also proposed and will provide access to the main float.

 

The work is proposed in the Mystic River off of property located at 2 Washington Street in Mystic. The purpose of the proposed project is to provide access to the patrons’ boats for boarding, provisioning and tending to minor routine repair work and maintenance.

 

The application for the federal permit was filed by Seaport Marine – Noank Shipyard, Inc. with the Corps in compliance with Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act, which provides for federal regulation of any work in, or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
