CONCORD, Mass. – Repairs to Herring Run Recreation Area at the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne, Mass., will be completed under the terms of a $241,400.00 contract recently issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
Work will be accomplished by Fusiform, Inc., of New Bedford, Mass. Once a notice to proceed is issued by the Corps of Engineers construction will be authorized to start. The contract was awarded on Sept. 20, 2017.
The project consists of the following components: 1) remove and replace chain link fencing along fishway; 2) repair concrete and joints in isolated places along fishway; 3) install new stainless steel baffle channels onto the existing concrete adjacent to the existing concrete baffle slots; 4) repair concrete flume walls, outlet walls, and void in the ceiling of the outlet conduit (some work will be influenced by tides); 5) replacement of wooden baffles; and 6) installation of riprap within the lower channel (must be accomplished during low tide).
The project will be managed by the Corps of Engineers and all work will be accomplished under the supervision of a Corps’ Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
