The Federal Navigation project at Searsport Harbor, Searsport, Maine is located at Mack Point. The project was authorized by the River and Harbor Act, 1962 and was constructed in 1964. The project consists of a navigation channel and turning basin (authorized at 35 feet deep) in front of the piers at Mack Point.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was authorized to conduct a study of Searsport Harbor, Searsport, Maine existing Federal Navigation project by the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure by Resolution adopted 26 July 2000. The study began with the preparation of the Reconnaissance Report completed in August 2004. The report identified the Federal interest in continuing to the Feasibility Phase. The cost sharing agreement for the Feasibility Phase with Maine Department of Transportation was signed in December 2005 and the Feasibility Phase initiated in 2006. The Feasibility Phase is cost shared 50 percent Federal and 50 percent non-Federal.
