Islesboro Shore and Bank Protection Project

IslesboroIslesboro is a 12-mile-long island in Penobscot Bay, about three miles east of Lincolnville and 30 miles south of Bangor. Islesboro can be reached by ferry from Lincolnville. The project site is situated in the central portion of the island in an area known as "The Narrows," which is only 500 feet wide and connects the northern and southern sections of the island.

Construction began in September 1983 and was completed in March 1984, costing $165,500. The project was built under Section 14 of the Continuing Authorities Program.
