Andrews River Navigation Project

Andrews River

The Andrews River, known locally as Saquatucket Harbor, is a small tidal stream on the south side of Cape Cod in Harwich, about 85 miles southeast of Boston. It is situated immediately east of Wychmere Harbor and roughly midway between Harwichport and the Chatham town line. The Andrews River is located in a popular resort area and is home to a large recreational boating fleet.

The project consists of an entrance channel six feet deep and 75 feet wide extending from deep water in Nantucket Sound to the vicinity of the state marina; two jetties on the fast and west sides of the harbor entrance; and a three-acre maneuvering and anchorage basin six feet deep adjacent to the marina. The project was completed in April 1968. The west jetty was completed in May 1973.
