CONCORD, Mass. – The Annisquam River federal navigation project in Gloucester, Massachusetts, will undergo maintenance dredging under the terms of a $7,845,150.00 contract issued recently by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
Work will be accomplished by Coastline Consulting and Development, LLC, of Branford, Connecticut. The contract was awarded on Oct. 10, 2019. Dredging operations are expected to take 5-6 months over two dredging seasons and occur between the fall of 2019 and Feb. 15, 2021.
The project consists of maintenance dredging of approximately 140,000 cubic yards of sand to remove shoals from the channel, and part of the Lobster Cove anchorage, with placement of the dredged material at Ipswich Bay Nearshore Disposal Site and Gloucester Historic Disposal Site.
The dredging project will be managed by the Corps of Engineers and all work will be accomplished under the supervision of a Corps’ Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
