What is a Public Notice?

Public Notices graphicA public notice is a description of proposed work or a project that is issued by the Corps of Engineers to local, state and federal agencies, members of the general public, Native American Tribes, interested groups or organizations, in a general area or region that provides them an opportunity to provide comments or concerns to the Corps about a proposed activity, project or permit that the Corps of Engineers is reviewing or making a determination on. The comment period is generally for 30 days but can be issued for less time or for more time. Comments submitted to the Corps are reviewed and are part of the evaluation process before a decision or determination can be made by the Corps of Engineers on that proposed project, activity or permit.

The In-lieu Fee (ILF) program serves as an alternative form of compensation for impact to aquatic resources authorized by the New England District Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) and/or the State of Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation.

15 Day Notice - Interested parties are hereby notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District (USACE) is evaluating plans pursuant to r 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) to allow the town of Weymouth to construct a proposed rock revetment and pedestrian walkway. This project consists of the construction of about a 1,000‐foot‐long rock revetment and walkway along the shoreline of Hingham Bay (Weymouth Fore River).

CT 10 Day Notice - Interested parties are hereby notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District (USACE) is evaluating plans pursuant to r 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) to allow the city of Ansonia to construct the Ansonia River Walk Project, Segments 3 & 4 in Ansonia, Connecticut. The proposed project consists of the construction of a multi-use, bituminous concrete, pedestrian path along the Naugatuck River in Ansonia, CT. The River Walk will be located on the crest of the Naugatuck River Left Bank and Beaver Brook River Right Bank Flood Damage Reduction System (FDR System), owned and operated by the city of Ansonia.  The path will use the existing access ramps (No. 1 and No.2) to reach the levee crest. The proposed River Walk is approximately 2,500 feet in length beginning at the Target store driveway on Main Street and continuing south to an entrance on Main Street. 3/12/20
ME 30 Day Notice - New England District, plans to stabilize approximately 1,500 feet (ft.) of shoreline at the Pleasant Point Reservation near Perry, Maine. The work is being implemented under the Section 14 Emergency Shoreline Protection program. The Pleasant Point Reservation is home to members of the federally recognized Passamaquoddy Tribe. The draft Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared in compliance with Council on Environmental Quality (40 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] 1500 to 1508) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulations for implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) (33 CPR 230). CT 30-Day Notice - Interested parties are hereby notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New England District, is currently working on the Fairfield and New Haven Counties, Connecticut Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) feasibility study in New Haven, Connecticut (see Figure 1).  The non-Federal project partner for the study is the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP). More information can be found here. 1/20/2020

(HBMI), have released the draft Wolastoq (Saint John River) Watershed Assessment and Management Plan for the Meduxnekeag River Subbasin for public review and comment. The study encompassed Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians (HBMI) tribal lands, and subbasin areas in the state of Maine, and the Canadian Provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec.

NH 30-Day Notice - Interested parties are hereby notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), New England District (NAE), plans to perform a riverbank protection project to stabilize approximately 500 linear feet of riverbank along the Connecticut River in Lyme, New Hampshire (Figure 1) involving work in the navigable waters of this District, under the provisions of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act of 1977 (P.L. 95-217) and to authorize such work in accordance with Title 33, Part 230 of the Code of Federal Regulations.  MA 30-Day Public Notice: USACE New England is preparing an Environmental Assessment for a proposed project at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Winchester Engineering and Analytical Center.  The proposed project involves the construction of a new facility of approximately 75,000 square feet and demolition of the current facility in Winchester and Woburn, MA.

NH Rye Harbor Dredging Designated Disposal Haul Route: The Rye Harbor dredging contractor is required to use this specific haul route when transiting to and from the dredged material placement site.  All fishing gear must be removed from within the specified haul route to avoid damage to or loss of fishing gear due to dredged material disposal operations. 3/15/2021

ME 30-Day Notice - USACE New England plans to stabilize approximately 1,500 feet of shoreline at the Pleasant Point Reservation near Perry, ME. The proposed emergency shoreline protection project will prevent ongoing shoreline erosion affecting Passamaquoddy tribal housing, a church and a senior center at the reservation by constructing a  rip-rap revetment. CT 30-Day Public NoticeUSACE New England District, proposes a shoreline erosion protection project on Enders Island, Stonington, CT. The purpose is stabilize an existing seawall and prevent further erosion of the island behind the seawall.  Waves have damaged the existing seawall during storm events and have, on occasion, overtopped the wall, causing erosion on the landward side.  08/06/2017
MA 30-Day Public Notice: USACE New England District proposes undertaking emergency shoreline protection in Marshfield, MA by constructing a berm in front of a 300-foot section of seawall in the Brant Rock/Hewitt’s Point. The purpose is to prevent further beach scour and protect the seawall so it continues to provide protection for backshore properties and associated roads and public infrastructure.  08/03/2017
