We encourage you to submit a completed copy of the Aquatic Resources and Impacts Spreadsheet found in the ZIP files linked below with your pre-construction notification (PCN) or individual permit application. The spreadsheet facilitates efficient and accurate data entry of the aquatic resources and project impacts into the USACE Regulatory database. The spreadsheet contains validation tools to ensure data accuracy before submitting to USACE. Performing the validation upfront alleviates the need for back-and-forth correspondence between the requester and USACE to correct any possible errors in the data.
To run the validation tool:
- Enter all data in the appropriate columns and tabs on the relevant Aquatic Resource and/or Impacts sheets. If you copy and paste data into the worksheet, ensure you paste only the values, as other paste methods can alter the format and cause the validation to fail.
- Save the document as an XLSM file.
- Click the shield icon at the top of the workbook window. The tool has a tool-tip showing "Validate Worksheets." When you click the shield icon to validate the data, any possible errors that need to be corrected will be added to the Validation tab.
- The Validation tab is opened after the process is complete to allow the user to see the output. The validation output includes the tab (data type), column, and cell for where the possible error was found and a brief explanation of the issue. Most of the validation checks are captured in the Rules tab of the workbook.
- If necessary, make corrections to the data and repeat the steps above until no errors are identified in the Validation tab, then the spreadsheet is ready to be submitted to USACE.
