The U.S. Army is committed to providing the public with information on environmental restoration and waste management activities.  

This website was developed to provide access to the documents used to select response actions for the Stratford Army Engine Plant (SAEP) Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) site in Stratford, Connecticut. These documents include reports prepared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, technical and other site-specific information, and comments submitted by the public in the remedial selection process.  

After a public hearing on the Proposed Plan in December 2019, the Record of Decision was issued in February 2021 and approved by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CTDEEP) in March 2021. In 2022, approximately 24,000 tons of contaminated sediment from the Outfall 008 drainage ditch was dredged, the drainage ditch capped, and the marshland restored. Between March 2025 and July 2026, the 48-acre Tidal Flat was remediated through the dredging of approximately 230,000 tons of contaminated sediment, capping with clean sand, and restoring the marshland. Long term monitoring of the Tidal Flat remedy will occur through 2031.
