The U.S. Amy Corps of Engineers at Edward MacDowell Lake in West Peterborough, N.H., will be open for the season on Saturday, May 31, 2014. The Corps facility offers picnic tables and grills, playground equipment, horseshoe pits, a swimming beach, multiple nature trails, a car-top boat launch, and two picnic shelters which can be reserved for a fee through www.recreation.gov.
Interpretive programs are offered by uniformed Corps park rangers each Saturday and Sunday, and interpretive exhibits are located in the main office. Groups are encouraged to contact the staff to plan for interpretive programs that fit their needs, or to schedule an event during the week.
There is no fee for any of the programs or for use of the facilities at Edward MacDowell Lake. The day-use facility is open from 8am to 8pm daily.
