STAMFORD, CT. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District announced that FY25 funds have been received, and the district is continuing to plan for necessary maintenance and repair of the Stamford Hurricane Protection Barrier in Stamford, Connecticut.

USACE is evaluating construction alternatives to complete this work, some of which may require temporary closures of the harbor. The district anticipates awarding a construction contract in 2027 and any construction plans will seek to minimize disruption to the community.

The barrier continues to operate at full capacity, with USACE committed to its maintenance and operational integrity. As we refine the project's design and details, USACE will actively share updates and seek input from the public.

Mariners and harbor stakeholders are advised to remain alert for advisories through marine radios and to contact the East Branch Navigation Gate office at (978) 318-8807 for specific channel closure information. USACE officials also recommend mariners monitor U.S. Coast Guard announcements for any messages concerning the barrier.

Information on the status of the navigation gates can be found on the District website by clicking HERE and on the Stamford Hurricane Protection Barrier Facebook page.
