USACE, New England District
Published Nov. 18, 2022

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District received a permit application to conduct work in waters of the United States from the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center, Inc., and the City of Burlington for proposed work in Lake Champlain in conjunction with the expansion of a small boat launching facility and commercial marina at 505 Lake Street in Burlington, Vermont.

The proposed work involves the construction of a boat launch ramp, permanent pier and deep-water basin with boat hoists. The proposed work also includes dredging, placement and maintenance of moorings, construction and renovation of new and existing docks, and retention of an existing floating wave attenuator in Lake Champlain. The docks will be removed from the lake and stored on the upland during the non-boating season. The purpose of the project is to provide universally accessible safe and improved lake access at an existing small boat facility.

USACE is soliciting comments from members of the public; federal, state and local agencies; American Indian Tribes; and other interested parties to consider and evaluate the impacts of this
proposed activity. The public notice with more detailed information is available for review on the District website at https://www.nae.usace.army.mil/Missions/PublicNotices, file # NAE-2019-01370.

Public comments on this proposed work should be forwarded no later than Dec. 14, 2022, to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, Attn: Michael Adams, Regulatory Division, 696 Virginia Road, Concord, MA 01742 or by email to michael.s.adams@usace.army.mil.
