Quonset Development Corporation seeks permit for proposed work in Port of Davisville

USACE, New England District
Published Nov. 3, 2022

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District received a permit application to conduct work in waters of the United States from Quonset Development Corporation for proposed work along the QDC Pier at Terminal 5 on the western shore of Narragansett Bay in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

The proposed work involves construction of a new multi-use pier within the Port of Davisville, a major automobile import location, to support a variety of vessels handling general cargo, project cargo, finished vehicles, and offshore wind power components. The additional berthing space of the new pier would provide QDC with greater flexibility in meeting market demands and supporting maritime commerce. The proposed pier would be approximately 2.5 acres in area, extending into Narragansett Bay approximately 815 linear feet from the existing bulkhead and varying in width from 75 to 165 linear feet.

USACE is soliciting comments from members of the public; federal, state and local agencies; American Indian Tribes; and other interested parties to consider and evaluate the impacts of this
proposed activity. The public notice with more detailed information is available for review on the District website at https://www.nae.usace.army.mil/Missions/PublicNotices, file # NAE-2022-02044.

Public comments on this proposed work should be forwarded no later than Nov. 29, 2022, to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, Attn: Daniel Breen, Regulatory Division, 696 Virginia Road, Concord, MA 01742 or by email to Daniel.B.Breen@usace.army.mil.
