USACE New England District unveils new Buffumville Lake Park automated fee machine

USACE, New England District
Published April 28, 2022

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District announced today that a new automated fee machine at Buffumville Lake Park in Charlton, Massachusetts, will expand
payment options for visitors when the park opens for the season May 21, 2022.

The machine accepts all major credit cards, is equipped with voice assist, and has an eye-catching Bobber the Water Safety Dog vinyl wrap. The new automated fee machine was installed in March by Ventek International and is powered by a solar panel with AC power backup.

Visitors to the park will receive a receipt upon payment to be placed on their vehicle’s dashboard. USACE annual passes can be purchased from the machine and receipts can be turned in to the fee booth for actual passes. Visitors will still be required to stop at the fee booth to listen to park rules.

Cash and checks will remain an alternative payment option.

The Buffumville Lake Park automated fee machine is the first of its kind installed in the New England District. Park Rangers are excited to be improving the park’s amenities by bringing in
modern technology.

Buffumville Lake Park will be open for recreation May 21 until Sept. 11, 2022. The day use fee for visitors is $5 per car and $40 for an annual pass. Amenities at the park include a swim beach, volleyball court, horseshoe and cornhole pits, two reservable shelters, picnic tables and grills, and family style restroom facilities. A life jacket loaner station is on site and water safety programs for all ages are offered on weekends. To reserve one of the two shelters, visit www.recreation.gov.

America the Beautiful National Park Passes are available to purchase by appointment. For more information, contact the Buffumville Lake Park office at (508) 248-5697 or visit
