CONCORD, Mass. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District received a permit application to conduct work in waters of the United States from the Maine Department of Transportation for proposed work at the Stillwater Avenue crossing of the Stillwater River in Old Town, Maine.
The proposed work includes placing temporary and permanent fill below the ordinary high-water mark of the Stillwater River in Old Town in order to replace the two existing Stillwater Avenue bridges. The combined replacements will result in approximately 14,015 square feet of permanent and 15,905 square feet of temporary riverbed impact. A two-lane temporary detour bridge will be located upstream to support traffic flow during construction.
USACE is soliciting comments from members of the public; federal, state and local agencies; American Indian Tribes; and other interested parties to consider and evaluate the impacts of this proposed activity.
