USACE, New England District
Published Oct. 22, 2021

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District announced today that contractors will begin construction work Oct. 12, 2021 at Edward MacDowell Lake in Peterborough, New Hampshire, to replace drainage structures and re-pave the Wilder Street access road.

The project, led by primary contractor Classic Site Solutions out of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, will take approximately five weeks to complete. Advanced Paving, based in Suncook, New Hampshire, is the sub-contractor.

The Edward MacDowell Lake project involves installing drainage improvements, along with asphalt repair. Work includes repairing the existing drainage swale, replacing old drainage structures with new culverts, replacing the headwall, installing new drop inlets, and asphalt paving and adding six-inch gravel shoulders on both sides of the Wilder Street access road.

Also, the guardrails and wooden footbridge will be temporarily removed and re-installed when all construction work is completed.

During the construction period, the access road will be reduced to one lane of traffic. Visitors are asked to expect some minor inconveniences on the road due to the construction vehicles, and to keep driving speeds low for the safety of the workers and other drivers.
