CONCORD, Mass. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District received a permit application from the Vermont Agency of Transportation in Barre, Vermont, for proposed work in wetlands adjacent to unnamed tributaries of the Barton River in conjunction with the construction of new landside facilities at the Northeast Kingdom International Airport off Airport Road in Coventry, Vermont.
The construction of runway and taxiway extensions, safety area improvements and the proposed work was originally authorized under permit number NAE-2009-02555, which was issued on October 9, 2014 and expired on October 9, 2019. The proposed work involves the placement of fill within 10,402 sq. ft. (0.24 acre) of wetlands for the construction of single-unit hangars, corporate hangar buildings, a fixed based operations building, an aircraft manufacturing building, warehouse buildings, associated access roads, parking areas, aprons, taxi lanes, and stormwater and drainage
improvements.
The Corps of Engineers is soliciting comments from members of the public; federal, state and local agencies; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties to consider and evaluate the impacts of this proposed activity. The public notice with more detailed information is available for review on the
