N. GROSVENORDALE, Conn. -- West Thompson Lake is implementing a phased re-opening of the recreation area in accordance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers policies and procedures; state of Connecticut and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) due to COVID-19.
Beginning June 26, 2020 the West Thompson Lake Campground opens. No new reservations are being taken at this time. Please refer to www.recreation.gov for more information.
In accordance with the most recent Connecticut Stay-At-Home and Safe Practices Advisory, the following COVID-19 closures continue at West Thompson Lake:
- All USACE sponsored events
- On-site interpretive programming
- Volunteer activities
- No new Special event or activity permits will be issued until further notice. Permits already issued will be considered for revocation based upon latest Public Health guidelines.
- West Thompson Lake Park office is closed to the public. Access is limited to mission essential employees, shipping companies, contractors and essential service personnel.
These measures are necessary to ensure and protect the health and well-being of our recreational visitors, staff, contractors, volunteers, and safeguard our ability to continue our critical Flood Risk Management Operations. We urge all visitors to follow the CDC’s guidelines and remain diligent regarding hygiene and social distancing. CDC guidelines and more information can be found at www.conoravirus.gov. The public’s patience and understanding during this unprecedented time is appreciated.
The pack in, pack out policy will continue as trash receptacles will not be available.
