CONCORD, Mass. – Public meetings to discuss the Remedial Investigation of the former Hingham Naval Ammunition Depot at Bare Cove Park and in the Weymouth Back River in Hingham and Weymouth, Mass. will be held in Weymouth and Hingham during the last week of March 2018.
The Remedial Investigation of the former Hingham Naval Ammunition Depot at Bare Cove Park and in the Weymouth Back River will be conducted in the spring and summer of 2018 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
The goal of the Remedial Investigation is to characterize the nature and extent of potential explosive safety hazards and munitions constituents at the former depot. During the investigation, specific areas within Bare Cove Park, Great Esker Park, and the Weymouth Back River will be closed and safety zones will be established in and around the investigation sites.
The public meetings will be held:
In Weymouth: on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Weymouth Town Hall, 75 Middle Street, Town Council Chambers, 2nd Floor, Weymouth, Mass.; and
In Hingham: on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 7 p.m. in Hingham Town Hall, 210 Central Street, Central Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Hingham, Mass.
