Study Area: The Boston Harbor municipalities are highly vulnerable to coastal flooding, and this vulnerability is increasing with changing sea level conditions. Study area municipalities are shown in Figure 1.
Study Authority and Study Non-Federal Cost Share Partner: The Boston Metropolitan Coastal Watershed Study is being conducted in accordance with authority provided in Section 729 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986 (Public Law 99-662, Title VII, Section 729), as amended. The nonfederal cost share partner for the study is Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
Study Purpose: This study provides a regional watershed assessment of coastal flood risk to populations, property, and infrastructure in the study area and provides recommendations for further action by stakeholders. This study does not recommend projects for Federal authorization or funding.
