Cape Cod Canal Park Attendants
Park Attendants play an essential role in keeping our public facilities safe and clean during the busy recreation season. Park Attendants join the team at the Cape Cod Canal each year, either as contractors or as volunteers, to help with the operations and maintenance of our day-use recreation areas.
2024 Park Attendant Positions
The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is currently looking to fill 1 VOLUNTEER Park Attendant positions (couples or singles) at the Cape Cod Canal for the 2024 recreation season.

CONTRACTED PARK ATTENDANTS
Teams of Contracted Park Attendants care for 7 major Recreation Areas along the Cape Cod Canal from mid-April to Columbus Day in October. Areas are located along both the “on-Cape” and “off-Cape” sides of the Canal.
Contracted Park Attendants competitively bid on a position. Lowest bidders are awarded contracts to perform the daily operation and maintenance of one or two of these Recreation Area(s).
Although each Recreation Area is different, most areas have one public restroom facility, a picnic shelter, park benches, picnic tables, several trash and recycling receptacles, visitor parking, landscaped areas, and access to the either the North or South Canal Service Road.
Contracted Park Attendants are responsible for cleaning public restroom facilities, emptying trash & recycling receptacles, interacting with visitors, picking up loose litter, wiping down picnic tables & benches and reporting safety issues.
Schedule is a rotating 4 days on, 4 days off. 8:00 am – 8:00 pm* (*or sunset, whichever is earlier).
A government owned utility vehicle, cleaning supplies, safety equipment, trash bags, etc. are furnished by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Park Attendants to use when performing work in the contract.
Qualities such as attention to detail, a friendly and helpful attitude towards the public, good interpersonal skills and willingness to work as a team are required.
To bid, all Contractors must have a Unique ID Issued and an active registration (Cage Code) in the System for Award Management (SAM) at the time of bid. There is NO COST for either of these requirements. Go to https://sam.gov/content/home.
Park Attendants must be 21 or older to apply. Couples and singles are welcome to bid.
USACE provides an RV site along the Canal, complete with water, electricity (50 AMP), sewerage hookup, picnic table, fire ring, security lighting and trash removal service. Cable TV/wireless internet available at the Contractor(s) expense.
VOLUNTEER PARK ATTENDANTS
Volunteer Park Attendants are responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Cape Cod Canal’s Midway Recreation Area from Memorial Day Weekend in May through Columbus Day in October.
Midway Recreation area sits across the street from the Cape Cod Canal. It offers a great place for travelers to get out and stretch their legs, use restroom facilities, and enjoy a picnic.
The large field behind the restrooms has a swing set, volleyball net, horseshoe pit and a large picnic shelter with grills and fireplace that is available for group reservations.
Park Attendants are responsible for cleaning public restroom facilities, emptying trash & recycling receptacles, interacting with visitors, picking up loose litter, wiping down picnic tables & benches and reporting safety issues.

USACE provides Park Attendants an RV site at Midway Recreation Area, complete with water, electricity (50 AMP), sewerage hookup, picnic table, fire ring, security lighting and trash removal service. Internet is not provided by USACE. But hook-up is available at the RV site’s pedestal to existing Comcast/Xfinity subscribers.
