Beach Properties, Inc. seeks Corps permit to place fill, maintain docking system, modify pier at marina in Ferrisburg

CONCORD, Mass. – Beach Properties, Inc. is seeking a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District to impact waters of the U.S. in conjunction with work at an existing commercial marina in Ferrisburg, Vermont.

 

Beach Properties, Inc. is proposing to place fill in and perform work within navigable waters for the replacement and expansion of existing docks, removal of four concrete piers, modification of an existing concrete pier and replacement of an existing retaining wall at an existing commercial marina and resort in Lake Champlain. The work is proposed in Lake Champlain at 4800 Basin Harbor Road in Ferrisburg.

 

The purpose of the proposed project is to provide improved recreational boating and swimming access to Lake Champlain at an existing resort facility.

 

The Corps is soliciting comments from the public; Federal, state and local agencies and officials; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties in order to consider and evaluate the impacts of this proposed activity. Any comments received will be considered by the Corps to determine whether to issue, modify, condition or deny a permit for this proposal.

The application for the federal permit was filed with the Corps in compliance with Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act, which provides for federal regulation of any work in, or affecting navigable waters of the U.S.; and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, which regulates the discharge or fill of material in U.S. waters, including wetlands.

 

Public comments on the work proposed by Beach Properties, Inc.
