They have an olive green, unstreaked back and a yellow, very dimly streaked breast. Their olive green wings have two white wing bars. They also have white spots on the corners of their tail feathers.
Their song is a single-pitch trill similar to a chipping sparrow’s, but looser, slower and more musical.
They live mainly in open pine woods and pine barrens.
They prey primarily on arthropods, but also feed on some fruit and seeds.
They breed in eastern North America and the West Indies, wintering in the southern part of their range, from Oklahoma to Virginia and southward.
The pine warbler is the only warbler that eats significant amounts of seeds, primarily pine seeds, which means you may see this warbler at your bird feeder.
