Habitat

Northern parulas can be found in humid woods. They are typically found in forests where Spanish moss and lichen can be found..

Diet

Insects and fruit.

Range

The Northern parula has two isolated populations. The northeastern birds can be found from northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan over to New York, Connecticut, and up to Maine. The southeastern Northern parulas are found from Virginia down to Florida, over to Texas, and up to southern Iowa.

Other Useful Information

The fact that there are two distinct summer populations of Northern parulas is unusual. Theories for the reason are that the middle population was eradicated due to air pollution and a decline in habitat.
