Description

They have a pinkish bill. It is a rusty colored sparrow. The rusty upper parts and has a clear breast. They have a narrow eyering.

Voice

A slurred trill which can ascend, descend, or stay in the same pitch.

Habitat

They are found in brush, scrub, and pastures.

Diet

Field sparrows eat low-lying vegetation.

Range

They are found in the eastern part of the Untied States over to Montana and down to Texas. They are not found on the very tip of Florida’s panhandle.

Other Useful Information

Males usually return to the same breeding territory each year. Females are far less particular. Young only rarely return to the same grounds as to where they were born.

Chipping sparrow and the American tree sparrow.
