Description

They have bright rufous coloring on the top; they are heavily streaked underneath. They have two, white wing bars on each wing. Their bill is curved. Brown thrashers have a long tail and their eyes are yellow.

Voice

They have variable, musical random phrases, but normally repeat each phrase twice. The note is a harsh chack!.

Habitat

They can be found in thickets, shrubbery, and scrub.

Diet

They eat fruit and insects.

Range

Brown thrashers can be found in the eastern part of the United States over to Texas and up to Montana.

Brown thrashers are aggressive when it comes to defending their nests. The will strike people and dogs, and can draw blood.
