Description

This is a slender, well camouflaged bird with a curved bill, brown above with streaking and white below. They have stiff tails to assist with climbing trees.

Voice

Brown creepers have a single seeee which is a high note.

Habitat

They are found in wooded areas and like shaded trees. In the winter, they often travel with chickadees and titmice.

Diet

They eat invertebrates that are found underneath the bark of trees.

Range

Brown creeper can be found throughout the United States and parts of Mexico, Canada, and up to Alaska.

Other Useful Information

In Arizona, brown creepers’ nests typically have two holes in the nest. One is the entrance and the other is an exit. The entrance is always facing downward while the exit faces upward.

Similar Species

This is the only creeper found in North America.
