They have a blue-gray head, an olive back, and a white throat. They have “spectacles,” white rings around the eyes that connect to the beak. They have two white wing bars.
Similar to the red-eyed vireo’s call of here I am, where are you? Here I am, where are you? call but higher pitched and more deliberately spaced.
They are found in mixed conifer-deciduous woods.
Blue-headed vireos eat mainly insects.
They are found in the eastern half of the United States.
The blue-headed vireo is the only vireo in its range that predominately uses conifer forests.
