Description

The have a striped head and on are striped on most of their body. Males’ throat and checks are black during the breeding season; they are white in the winter. Females and immatures have a pale chin.

Voice

The song of a black-and-white warbler is a long series of high, thin wee-see. The call is a sharp chip and high seep-seep.

Habitat

Black-and-white warblers can be found in mixed woodlands.

Diet

They eat insects.

Range

They are found in the east, over to Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and up to Canada.

Other Useful Information

Only warbler that creeps up and down branches and trunks of trees, in a similar fashion to nuthatches.
