Description

This is America's most common crow. It is a glossy black bird with a large black bill and black legs.

Habitat

You can find this bird in all open spaces such as farmland, suburbs, and open woods.

Diet

75 percent of an American crow's diet is made up of plants and 25 percent of its diet is made up of animals.

Range

American crows live in Canada during the summer and lives year-round in most of the United States (including VT and NH).

Other Useful Information

American Crows are social, roosting in large groups in trees at night.

Similar Species

The American Crow is almost identical to the Fish Crow (not found in VT and NH). It is also very similar to the Common Raven; however, the crow is smaller and has a different call. The crow's call is a caaw, while the raven's call is a brronk.
