Northfield Brook
was an important source of water power in Thomaston and Northfield in the
mid 1800s with several industries including a knife shop, a grist mill, textile
mill, and a saw mill benifiting from its flow. The brook also provided water
for some of the small dairy farms located upstream
The picnic areas at Northfield are located on or near old historic sites.
The remains of 3 old mill pond dams may still be seen along Northfield Brook within the park.
