TEMPORARY TRAVEL LANE RESTRICTIONS FOR THE BOURNE BRIDGE WILL BEGIN WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2012

CONCORD, Ma - Follow-on steel repair work will resume on the Bourne Bridge on Wednesday, February 8th and Thursday, February 9th with traffic control measures installed that will reduce the travel lanes to ONE LANE IN EACH DIRECTION.

Traffic control measures will be in place between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Motorists planning to use the Bourne Bridge should be aware that travel delays are likely to occur during the morning and afternoon peak travel periods each day.

Completion of the steel repairs is critical to maintaining the integrity of the bridge, which is a vital component of the transportation system for the Cape, Islands and southeastern Massachusetts. Those who want to be notified of changes to the bridge work schedule can sign up for the Bridge Work Alerts email notifications.

To sign up for the Bridge Work Alerts send an email to: CapeCodCanalBridges@usace.army.mil with the subject title “Bridge Work Alerts”. An email alert is sent when there are major changes to the bridge work status or schedule.

For more information about the bridge repairs contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, Public Affairs Office at 978-318-8238.
