Welcome to Conant Brook Dam, Monson Massachusetts
Conant Brook Dam is on Conant Brook and covers 469 acres in the Town of Monson, Massachusetts. The reservoir is part of a network of seven flood control dams in the Lower Connecticut River Basin constructed and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Together with the Barre Falls Dam on the Ware River, it helps to control flooding on the Chicopee River.

Water levels at Conant Brook Dam are regulated by a 36 inch diameter conduit; there are no gates. The water flowing through this conduit drains an area of 7.8 square miles.Total flood control storage at Conant Brook Dam is 1.3 billion gallons (3,740 acre ft.) of flood waters at a maximum pool level of 64'. Water from flood control storage is released automatically as downstream river levels recede.

The Reservoir Regulation Team (RTT) at New England District Headquarters, in Concord, Massachusetts is the "nerve center" for New England flood control projects such as Conant Brook Dam. Using radio and satellite communications, the RRT constantly monitors river levels and weather conditions that influence flood control decisions.

Conant Brook Dam was placed into operation in 1966 at a cost of $2,942,000. As of September 2009 it has prevented approx. $2,877,000 in flood related damages.
