Rte. 2 to exit 19, (Rte.2A/202.) Turn left off the exit, onto Rte.2A/202. Now take your first right onto Royalston Road. You will travel on Royalston Road for 4.3 miles at which point the road will end, turn left and travel 1 tenth of a mile. Turn right onto Birch Hill Dam Road. It is after the railroad tracks but before the bridge. Birch Hill Dam Road is actually the driveway for Birch Hill Dam.

To reach the campgrounds and day use area, take Rte. 2 to exit 20. Turn right off the exit onto So. Main Street. Follow So. Main for 2.8 miles where it intersects with Rte. 68/202. Turn right onto Rte. 68/202 and follow Rte. 202 into Winchendon. The state managed campgrounds and day use area are on the left. Distances from Rte. 2 to the entrance for Otter River Campground, Lake Dennison Day Use, and Lake Dennison Campground are 4.4 miles, 5.0 miles and 5.9 miles respectively.
