Sediment profile images collected from two stations over the CLIS 95/96 Mound Complex displaying examples of recolonization within thin layers of fresh dredged material. The image on the left shows abundant Stage I pioneering polychaetes at the sediment-water interface, while the image on the right displays a Stage III feeding void at depth within the surface layer of fresh dredged material. Images were collected in September 1997, only four months after the last disposal event at this mound.

Sediment profile images collected from two stations over the CLDS reference area (March 1998) displaying undisturbed surface layers; mottled, ambient sediment at depth, and hydrozoan polyps at the sediment-water interface.
