Electronic Data Deliverables (EDD)

Sediment Chemistry EDD

As specified in the Regional Implementation Manual (RIM), all sediment data submittals must include an EDD. The sediment chemistry EDD should be used to report the results of sediment physical and chemical analysis including QA/QC samples. The first sheet of the workbook provides instructions for completing the EDD. More detailed instructions are available in the document EDD field descriptions and in the EDD PowerPoint Presentation from the 7 October 2004, RIM training session.

Water Column EDD

All water chemistry and water column toxicity data must be submitted electronically and hardcopy. There is no required format for electronic submission of the results of water chemistry or water column toxicity testing, but the elutriate chemistry testing worksheet is available for ease of data presentation.

Benthic Effects EDD

As of 25 March 2010 a new benthic effects EDD is available in addition to the required bioaccumulation results spreadsheet for EPA risk assessment. The Benthic Effects EDD should be used to report the results of whole sediment acute toxicity testing, bioaccumulation testing, and tissue chemistry including QA/QC samples. The first sheet of the workbook provides instructions for completing the EDD.

Bioaccumulation EDD

The bioaccumulation results spreadsheet is a required submittal for all projects that have bioaccumulation test results. This spreadsheet is used by the EPA risk assessment program to assess long term risk of sediment disposal.

EDD Checker

The EDD checker is a tool to help you ensure that you have completed your EDD correctly. You are required to use it before submitting your EDD to the Corps. To install this program, download the EDD checker WinZip file and unzip it to your computer. You will now have access to RIM_EDD_Checker.exe and the associated help file RIM_EDD_Checker_Instructions.doc.

Before you submit a sediment chemistry or benthic effects EDD, you must run it through the EDD Checker, as described in the RIM EDD Checker Instructions (see above). The program will generate a report detailing whether the required fields contain any errors (e.g. a required field was left blank or the entry was formatted incorrectly). Correct any errors, run it through the program again, and repeat if necessary until no errors are found. Save the report that shows no errors, and send this as an electronic file with the EDD.

Submitting EDD

After obtaining an EDD Checker report indicating no errors, send the following information to your Corps Permits Project Manager:

- EDD
- EDD Checker report indicating no errors
- Hard copy data submission (or "readable, printable" electronic format, such as PDF)
- Quality Control Summary Tables (available in XLS or PDF; can submit in hard copy or electronically)
