Corps awards $289,845 contract for painting gate chamber equipment at Colebrook River Lake dam in Colebrook; Work to start in about late September

Published Aug. 13, 2013

CONCORD, Mass. Painting of gate chamber equipment at Colebrook River Lake dam in Colebrook, Conn., will be completed under the terms of a $289,845.00 contract recently awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.

Work will be accomplished by Tantara Associates Corporation, of Worcester, Mass. Work is scheduled to start in about late September 2013 and take about four months to complete. The contract was awarded on July 12, 2013.

The project consists of painting the equipment contained within the gate chamber at the Colebrook River Lake dam to include six gate stems, three air exchange tubes, one spiral staircase, and two sump pumps. The existing paint coatings on these items have partially failed. There are areas where the paint is peeling, blistering and rusted. The contractor will remove the failed paint areas by abrasive blasting but leave the intact paint areas in place.

The project will be managed by the Corps and all work will be accomplished under the supervision of a Corps’ Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
