Maine Department of Transportation seeking a permit for work in the Pleasant River

 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District has received a permit application from the Maine Department of Transportation to place temporary and permanent fill in the Pleasant River and adjacent wetlands while replacing the deteriorated Pleasant Street bridge in Milo, Maine.

The project will result in permanent and temporary impacts to stream bed and wetlands. A temporary work trestle will be constructed to provide access to the center-river bridge pier. Traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge until the replacement is completed whereupon the existing bridge will be demolished.

The Corps is soliciting comments on both the project itself and the range of issues to be addressed in the environmental documentation. The proposed work will be coordinated with federal, state and local agencies.
