Col. Christopher J. Barron

Commander and District Engineer, New England District

Colonel Christopher Barron, a native of Goshen, New York, is the Commander of the New England District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with responsibility for Civil Works, Military Construction and Regulatory processes for the six New England states.  He graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1991.  Prior to his arrival in New England, he was the U.S. Army War College’s Visiting Defense Fellow at Queens' University in Canada.

Previous assignments include Command, Director and staff positions within a variety of units to include the 10
th Mountain Division, the 1st Armor Division, the 3rd Infantry Division, Joint Task Force North and the U.S. Army Engineer School.  His overseas deployments include combat, reconstruction and peacekeeping missions in Somalia, Haiti, Macedonia, Bosnia and Iraq. 

Colonel Barron’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Airborne Badge, Pathfinder Badge and Sapper Tab.
